What does Verdict do?

Verdict analyzes a photo or a video and estimates whether it was generated by AI. For a photo, it runs four independent checks — a neural-network model, sensor-noise analysis, Error Level Analysis, and metadata inspection. For a video, it samples frames across the clip and runs the AI-detection model on each one. Either way it combines the evidence into a single 0–100 score with a plain-language verdict, from "Likely Real" to "Likely AI-Generated," plus a breakdown of what it found.

How accurate is it? Is the verdict definitive?

No AI detector is perfect, and Verdict is no exception. AI image generators improve constantly, and both false positives (real photos flagged as AI) and false negatives (AI images that slip through) are possible. Treat Verdict's score as one strong piece of evidence to weigh with your own judgment — not as absolute proof. That's why Verdict always shows the breakdown behind its score instead of a single yes/no.

Does Verdict work without an internet connection?

Yes. All analysis runs on-device, so Verdict works fully offline when you analyze a photo or video from your library. The one exception is sharing a web link: if you share a URL instead of an image file, Verdict downloads the image at that address before analyzing it on-device.

How do I check a photo or video?

Open Verdict and tap "Select Photo" or "Select Video" to pick from your library. For images you can also use the share sheet: in Photos, Safari, or Messages, tap the Share button on an image and choose Verdict. Results appear in a few seconds — for video, you'll see frame-by-frame progress as it works.

How do I add Verdict to my share sheet?

Share any image, scroll the app row to the right, tap "More," then "Edit," and turn on Verdict (or drag it up). After that, Verdict appears in the share sheet whenever you share an image.

Which iPhones can run Verdict?

Verdict runs on iPhones with iOS 16 or later. Analysis is a little faster on newer devices, but it works across the supported range.

Are my photos or videos uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is analyzed on your device. Verdict runs no servers and includes no analytics, so nothing you scan is ever uploaded to us. Verdict does keep a scan history on your iPhone — a small thumbnail and the score for each result — so you can look back at past scans; that history lives only on your device and you can clear it anytime. Why did Verdict get this one wrong?

A few things can throw off any detector: heavy compression or re-saving, screenshots, small or low-resolution images, heavily re-encoded video, and AI content that has been edited to look photographic. If you hit a case where Verdict is confidently wrong, use the in-app Send Feedback option or email us the details (and the file if you can) — it helps us improve the scoring.

How much does Verdict cost?

Verdict is free to download, and the free tier lets you run a few scans a day with the verdict and score. Verdict Pro removes the daily limit and unlocks the full per-check evidence breakdown, available as a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Pricing is shown in the App Store and on the in-app upgrade screen.
