Frequently asked
Does Postcard work without an internet connection?
Yes. Recording, transcription, summaries, search, and Ask all run on-device, so the app works fully offline. The only thing that needs the internet is restoring a Pro purchase, which is handled by Apple's StoreKit.
Where are my recordings stored?
On your device. Audio files are written into Postcard's app data on the iPhone (or Apple Watch, briefly, before they sync to the iPhone). They are never uploaded anywhere.
Do recordings sync between my iPhone and Apple Watch?
Yes — recordings made on the Apple Watch automatically transfer to your paired iPhone over Apple's WatchConnectivity framework as soon as the two devices are in range. Cross-device sync between two iPhones (or iPhone and iPad) is not supported in the current version; that's on the roadmap.
How do I export a recording?
Open the moment, tap the share icon, and choose Save Audio (or share to any app that accepts audio files). Bulk export of every moment at once is on the roadmap.
What happens to my recordings if I delete the app?
They go away with the app. Because Postcard stores everything in its own app data on the device and does not back up to a server, uninstalling the app removes your recordings too. Make a backup first if you want to keep them. iCloud-backed device backup will preserve them as part of the device backup.
What's in Postcard Pro?
Pro unlocks: unlimited use of the Ask tab (free tier gets a small weekly preview); search by meaning; photo attachments on moments; Add to Reminders and Add to Calendar from a moment's action bar; additional Postcard share themes (Slate, Night, Forest, Paper, Custom); unlimited audio-bundle sharing (free tier is capped at 10 audio postcards per month); contextual Pro prompts (post-workout, post-meeting, end-of-day, and the optional place-arrival prompts); and Apple Watch extras — Echo (long-press the mic for a rolling-buffer session on the wrist), the Today list, and the rich "Recent moment" complication. The free tier is genuinely useful — Pro is for people who use Postcard daily. The full breakdown is on the product guide.
How do I cancel Postcard Pro?
Postcard Pro comes two ways: a monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. If you chose the monthly subscription, manage or cancel it anytime — in the app via Settings → Postcard Pro → Manage subscription, or in iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the renewal; you keep Pro until the current period ends. The lifetime option is a one-time purchase, so there's nothing to cancel. For a refund either way, request one through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases.
How do I revoke a permission I previously granted?
Open iOS Settings → Postcard. Every permission Postcard requested has its own toggle there. Turning one off takes effect immediately; the matching feature in the app will route around it gracefully.
Found a bug or have a feature idea?
Email gwolny@me.com. If you're reporting a bug, mentioning your iPhone model, iOS version, and what you were doing right before it happened helps a lot.
